My musical training started in York when I went to study music at St Johns. I was very fortunate to have tuition on the Minster organ under Francis Jackson and Geoffrey Coffin.
On completion of my studies I moved to Beverley where, under Alan Spedding, became Assistant Organist at Beverley Minster.
I worked for a while in musical theatre directing shows for Hornsea, Scarborough, Bridlington and York Amateur Dramatic Societies.
Moving back to Lancashire I resumed my organ playing and developed a great love for conducting and directing choral music. Churches I worked in included Northwich Parish Church, St. Anne’s, Rainhill, St James, Poolstock and St Peter’s, Hindley.
I have served as member on both the Liverpool and Chester RSCM Committee’s.
In 2007 I formed ‘Cantique’, a small choir of dedicated local musicians who have since performed in York Minster, Canterbury Cathedral, Liverpool Cathedral, Chester Cathedral , Tatton Park, Eaton Hall and many other venues, too many to mention.
We embarked on a tour of Belgium this April/May where we sang at the Menin Gate, Tyn Cot War Cemetery and Ghent Cathedral. More can be found by following the link on the main page.
I have also worked on forming and leading two Community Choirs in the area, Spectrum, my current choir are based in Ashton in Makerfield.
